Midwifery care is funded by Alberta Health Services in Alberta. However, there are not enough Registered Midwives to meet the client demand.

You can apply for care by submitting your name to the provincial waitlist and selecting what practices that you are interested in seeing. This may include practices outside your community.

If you are selected then you will be contacted. Otherwise, you will need to seek care with a physician in your community. You may be contacted again later on in pregnancy if a spot opens at your selected practice choices.

Please know that we are not able to meet the demand and are not able to respond to everyone on the waitlist who requests care. We hope to recruit more midwives in the future and meet the demand in our community.
